That's fun, guys!
That's fascinating. The Fowkeses have apparently been very productive lately. The last time I looked into it--10 or 15 years ago--there were supposedly only a few hundred people in the US with the surname Fowkes. Also, when I was in Wales on a visit in 1989, I went to the national library in Aberwystwyth and checked all the phone directories for Wales and London and came up with only about 7 entries.
Another question: how do people pronounce it? In my family, it's Fowkes with an "ow" as in cow," but elsewhere I've heard it as Fowkes with an "ow" as in "low."
Power to the Fowkes!

Thanks for the comment, William! My (Emilee) maiden name is Fowkes and we do pronounce it the same as you! I had William Fowkes that was my uncle too, actually. Anyway, we are of the line that came out of Ibstock, Leicestershire in the 1800s, and on to Coalville Utah and then to settle in Almy, Wyoming, where Fowkeses still reside and hold property today. Glad to meet another one of us!
